Experienced, Enthusiastic, and Innovative Music Educator
- Tom Westmoreland is an innovative educator who has spent his career expanding access to ensemble programs by developing curriculum that focuses on contemporary music, uses informal learning practices, and has a tiered arranging approach so that students, regardless of their experience, can perform dynamic and exciting concerts of the music that they love. Tom has been teaching Instrumental Music in Massachusetts since 2004 & earned his undergraduate degree in Music Education from James Madison University (Cum Laude) and a Master of Music Education from Boston University. He is currently the leader of the Band Program for Somerville Public Schools (serving students in Grades 4-12), developing curriculum and practices that serve this diverse urban community outside of Boston. Tom serves as chair of the Massachusetts Music Educators Association Innovations Council & the editor of the Innovations Column for the Massachusetts Music Educators Journal.
